The Undergrad’s Guide to Student Loan Repayment

Ensure you’re making the best decisions with your student loans.

Does any of this sound like you?

N

After years of the payment freeze, you have no idea how to start tackling your student loan debt.

N

You have a tight budget and aren’t sure how you’ll stretch it to cover student loan payments.

N

You’re confused and stressed by all the options (especially the new ones!) and don’t know which payment plans are right for you.

N

You’re still in school but are anxious about repaying your student loans once you graduate.

If so, you’re in the right place!

You want to make the best decisions you can with your student loans.

You’re a hardworking student or college graduate who wants to get value from your degree without feeling trapped by student loan debt.

And you wish you had a roadmap to help guide you toward making the smartest decisions for your unique situation — one that will keep you from feeling hamstrung by debt.

The only problem is…

  • Student loan repayment was confusing enough without all the recent changes.
  • You don’t know how to navigate all the options or how to decide which is best for you.
  • Your school’s financial aid advisors aren’t much help. They handed you a piece of paper and told you to sign so you could get a degree, and now you’re stuck with all this debt.

You wish you could wave a magic wand so you could instantly know what to do.

Imagine If…

You had the clarity and confidence that you made the best choices for your student loans.

  • What will it feel like when you aren’t weighed down by stress and confusion?
  • How will it feel when you know you’re repaying in a way that makes the most sense for you and your unique situation?
  • What will your days be like when you don’t have to struggle to figure out how to fit the added expense into your budget?
  • What will be possible for you when your student loan debt is finally “taken care of”?

That’s exactly why I created The Undergrad’s Guide to Student Loan Repayment — to help you repay your student loans without feeling trapped by debt.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q. Do I have to attend live?

A. Nope! Attending live gives you the chance to personally ask me (Sarah) any questions on your mind about your student loans. But each class will be recorded, so you’ll get access to a replay within 24 hours after the live class ends.

Q. What if I want to ask a question but can't be there live?

A. No worries! Just email me your question the day before class (or ask it in the FB group and be sure to tag me). I’ll bring up your question and answer it during class.

You’ll get a recording of the class within 24 hours, and you’ll be able to watch me answer your question then.

Q. Are you available to answer my questions?

A. Absolutely! I want to make sure you’re as well informed as possible when making decisions with your student loans. After all, we’re not talking about a small amount of money!

All live attendees have the opportunity to ask questions live and in person, and I’ll answer them on the spot!

If you can’t attend the live sessions, simply email me your question(s) 24 hours in advance (to ensure I see it). I’ll raise your question(s) and provide an answer during the class. You’ll then be able to watch the answer when you get the class recording.

You can also raise questions at any time in the FB group. I’ll pop in frequently, but make sure to tag me to ensure I see your question. I’ll answer questions raised on Facebook right on Facebook!

And, drumroll please . . . When you enroll in this course, you’ll also get access to a bonus Q&A session. Same rules apply — email me 24 hours in advance with any and all questions to ensure I see your Qs and answer them live.

Q. I have a special situation. Will this course work for me?

A. Definitely! I cover all types of loans and situations. And you have tons of opportunity to ask questions, so I can tailor the content of the course to your needs.

Plus, if you stump me, I will make every effort to find the answers to all your questions. I’m great at knowing who to ask and where to look! It comes part in parcel with working in higher ed and being a journalist. 🙂

Q. How long will I have access to the content?

A. Forever! These sessions will be recorded, so you’ll be able to watch the replays whenever you want. After the current course ends on Sept. 26th, the Q&A portion will be deleted to protect the privacy of the questioners. However, you’ll still have access to the course content.

Also, this course is in a beta version. That means it will eventually be updated with all-new content — especially any changes in student loans or repayment options. And you’ll get access to all the updates!

Q. I'm a struggling college student and can't afford the cost of the course. Is there a scholarship option?

A. Why, yes, I’m so glad you asked! Not only do I teach college students, but I’ve been one myself. (I have 10 years of higher education under my belt!) So I totally get it.

I tried to make this course as affordable as possible. But if cost is a barrier for you, drop me an email, and I’ll see what I can do. (You may have to fill out a short application.)

Q. What's your refund policy?

A. You can watch the first session, risk-free. If, after that, you don’t think the course will be valuable for you, I’ll refund your investment — no questions asked.

Once the second session has gone live, I can no longer offer a refund because at that point you’ll be neck-deep in the course.

Have a question I didn’t answer here? Drop me an email at sarah@sarahgravesphd.com.

Why I Created The Undergrad’s Guide to Student Loan Repayment

Hi, I’m Sarah, an English professor and journalist who covers education and is actively working on a book to help Gen Z students navigate college.

I created The Undergrad’s Guide to Student Loan Repayment because I’ve been right where you are —  I too needed to borrow to pay for college and found myself mired in debt on graduation. I was anxious and felt lied to, not sure if I’d ever be able to pay off all my debt.

Then, while I was a journalist covering the student loan beat, I discovered what I already intuitively knew — most undergrads know next to nothing about student loans. Yet we’re told by “well-meaning adults” that borrowing is what we need to do to get a valuable college education. In other words, it’s “good debt.”

But it doesn’t feel so good when we get the bill after graduation and we aren’t sure how to make those payments when we aren’t making much money as a new grad or when we get stuck in repayment for decades.

That’s why I’m so passionate about helping you repay your student loans as quickly and cheaply as possible — because I don’t want you to get weighed down by debt.

You can do this even if you’re…

Short on Money

I break down all your options so you can find one that works for your budget.

Confused by the Details

As a teacher and journalist, I’m used to putting technical jargon into plain speak. I’ll spell it all out for you — and I’ll make sure you understand how it all applies to your unique situation.

Afraid It’s too Late

Even if you’ve already borrowed gobs of money, been stuck in repayment for decades, or missed the deadlines for the temporary waiver and payment recount — it’s not too late to take action with your student loans!

At this point I’ve given you all the information I have to help you decide if The Undergrad’s Guide to Student Loan Repayment is right for you.

If you’re still on the fence, just send me an email at sarah@sarahgravesphd.com and let me know what’s holding you back, and I’ll let you know if The Undergrad’s Guide to Student Loan Repayment is the right fit for you.

I can’t wait to help you figure out the best ways to repay your student loans — as quickly and cheaply as possible!

* Disclaimer: I’ve been writing about student loans as a journalist for many years. (And I’ve muddled through the waters of figuring out how to repay my own six-figure student loan debt on a teacher’s salary!) So I know a lot about student loan repayment, including many things others never tell you. However, I am not a financial professional, so nothing in this course should be constituted as financial advice.
